THE SEX PISTOLS EXPERIENCE/THE OUTFIT -RAILWAY SOCIAL CLUB , BOURNEMOUTH 28TH JULY 2006

Friday night in Bournemouth , and yet another great night from Lewis at Sound of the Suburbs , the venue is a club situated right in front of Bournemouth railway station called the Railway social club , and the drinks are very reasonable too.

First band on are Farnborough's The Outfit , a four piece band who dedicated themselves to punk/new wave and mod music from late 70's and early 80's .Dressed in their chosen attire of school shirts and ties Graham(Lead Vocals, guitar) , Ady(Bass) , Martin(Drums) and Dave(Rock Guitar) hit the stage with "Teenage Kicks" dedicated to the late great John Peel..The night went on with a long list of great tunes from the likes of  Stiff Little fingers , The Specials , Boomtown rats  and  The Jam. Song of the night had to be a brilliant rocked up version of  The Police's "Message in a bottle" which really sounded awesome played in this very up tempo way.All too soon their set had to end , however  encores was demanded .The Outfit delivered "Alternative Ulster" which dragged a few punks from their bar stools for a pogo and finally ending with Green Day's "American Idiot" just for all those present too old to remember.

The Sex Pistols Experience made up of Kid Vicious , Johnny Forgotten , Steve Bones and Paul Crook hit the stage looking all the part like the real thing with their authentic stage wear , Johnny had a very uncanny likeness to the real Johnny Rotten with even his mannerisms being very similar.1st song up was " Holidays in the Sun" and once again new and old punks dragged themselves away from the bar and pogoed like it was 1977.

As with the real Sex Pistols lots of attitude and lots of self opinions were coming from the band , however lots of heckling came back from the audience from all corners of the room , and the band took it in their stride , only drawing the line when one of the guys down the front asked if he could spit at them.maybe ok in 1977 but not today. The set continued with "God save the Queen" ,  "EMI"  and "Pretty Vacant" which were played almost too well , with these probably being better musicians than the originals which is not really too hard!!

Johnny left the stage and Kid Vicious had the stage to himself and belted out some great versions of songs made famous by the real Sid Vicious "Something Else" ,"C'mon Everybody" and the brilliant Frank Sinatra song "My way". Firmly taking the spotlight away from Johnny for once , Kid got the biggest cheers of the night.

£7 for 2 great bands and only £1.90 a pint well worth a return visit I think.
